Welcome to the official Web site of the National Identity Management Commission [NIMC]. Established by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007, the NIMC has the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards (GMPC) to those registered individuals, and to harmonize and integrate existing identification databases in Nigeria. In a few words, our mandate is to provide an assured identity system in Nigeria through the concept of enrol once and be identified for life.
We wish to notify prospective enrollees for the National Identification Number (NIN) that you CANNOT enrol twice.
If you have enrolled before and have been issued a NIN, we will contact you when your own batch of cards have been printed and is ready for collection.
Any attempt to enrol more than once is a CRIME.
Our systems will blow the whistle when you attempt it.
Please be informed and BE WARNED.
